Reiki Healing

気
Reiki is generally interpreted as “spiritual energy,” “universal life energy,” or “spiritually guided life force.”
Rei
This is often translated as “spirit,” “soul,” or “mysterious/universal.”
It carries a sense of something beyond the physical—intelligence, consciousness, or a higher/spiritual aspect of life.
Ki
This is commonly translated as “energy,” “life force,” or “vital energy.”
This is not just personal energy, but a universal energy that flows through all living things. Discovered by Mikao Usui, in the early 20th century, Reiki promotes balance, harmony, and wellbeing, offerering physical, emotional, and spiritual support.
There are no contra indications to receiving Reiki healing, therefore anyone can benefit from this treatment.
Reiki can be an excellent accompaniment to having counselling or psychotherapy, allowing for integrations and shifting of stuck energies.
If you are engaging in counselling or psychotherapy, reiki can be a gentle way to integrate your work and allow you to rebalance and let go of stuck energies. It also complements many other medical and holistic therapies.
What to expect.
Reiki is generally a very relaxing and rejuvenating experience. When you attend an in person session, you will be invited to lie down on a couch and be covered with a blanket.
I will guide you into a relaxed state and for the duration of the treatment you will remain in supine, receiving the energy healing.
Unless otherwise preferred, I will place my hands upon different energy centres on your physical body. Touch is absolutely not essential for this treatment, however it can be very grounding and therapeutic.
Reiki works directly with your energy centres, or chakras, and apart from being a very relaxing experience, it invites healing into both the energetic and the physical body, allowing cells to regenerate and your nervous system to be in a parasympathetic state, or 'rest & digest mode'.
Reiki can also be conducted via a remote session.
Just like having regular massage, reiki is most effective when you receive regular treatments. You can't have too much reiki and there are no contraindications associated with receiving reiki healing, which means it is suitable for everybody.
Some people can experience 'healing reactions' such as a head ache or flu like symptoms, these are temporary and a good sign that energy is flowing through places that were previously blocked.
